Chiefs whip Wellington to claim district baseball crown

Host and top-seeded Santa Fe scored 14 runs in the second inning, en route to a 24-1 triumph over the No. 2-seeded Wellington Tigers in the championship game of the Class 1, District 14 Baseball Tournament at Alma Wednesday.

The 10-3 Chiefs, defending Class 1 state champions, play in the sectional round Monday at Northwest of Hughesville, a 14-6 winner over Leeton in the District 13 final, Monday at 5 p.m.
