Hazardous road conditions, caused by heavy snow and gusty winds, left two seriously injured last Wednesday afternoon.

George L. Moore of Columbia, lost control of a 1996 Ford Explorer, while traveling eastbound on Interstate 70, at mile marker 57 near Walkenhorst Road, and overturned, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report.

Christina Walker, 19, and Michael J. Green, 45, both of Columbia, received serious injuries and were transported to I-70 Medical Center at Sweet Springs for treatment.

Moore, 42, and Rodney Crockett, 43, of Columbia, sustained minor injuries.

Crockett refused medical treatment and Moore was taken by ambulance to I-70 Medical Center, according to the report.

Traffic on I-70 moved slowly as members of the Lafayette County Sheriffs Department and Concordia Fire Protection District assisted the vehicle's occupants and removed the vehicle from the shoulder, where it landed after flipping.

The report states that none of the occupants were wearing safety devices.
