Lady Tigers beat Santa Fe for consolation
Wellington's Katie Kropp scored 12 points, including hitting six of eight free throws, leading the Lady Tigers to a 44-34 victory over host Santa Fe to claim the consolation plaque in the Lafayette County Tournament Saturday at Alma.
Each team had four players score two points apiece in the first quarter of an 8-8 tie.
Jessica Kilgore and Kayla Thompson each scored four points in the second quarter and the Lady Tigers built a 20- 14 lead by halftime.
Kropp hit three free throws and four other Lady Tigers hit a basket and they were able to keep their six-point lead, 31- 25, going to the fourth quarter.
Santa Fe stayed within striking distance in the third quarter as Heather Emde hit three baskets and Molly Sander scored five points.
Kropp hit three baskets and scored seven fourth-quarter points as the Lady Tigers extended the lead down the stretch.
Emde paced the Lady Chiefs with 10 points.
Sander finished with nine points.
