Police identify murder victim

The charred human remains discovered Jan. 12, in western Lafayette County have been identified as those of 31 year old Annicka Marie Martinez of Kansas City, Kansas.

Martinez's body was found by firefighters after they extinguished a car fire in rural Lafayette County.

Identification was made by a Forensic Odontologist from Omaha, Nebraska.

Lafayette County detectives will now focus on the homicide investigation. Thanks to information received from the public, the victim was identified more quickly than expected.
