Lions Club Tournament starts Thursday
The annual Concordia Lions Club Fifth- and Sixth-Grade Basketball Tournament starts Thursday night with Concordia Elementary School being the site.
There are five schools and six teams represented in each bracket.
The boys' bracket has St. Paul's as the No. 1 seed and receiving one of the two first-round byes. Immanuel of Higginsville is the second seed and gets the other bye.
Concordia (A) plays Sweet Springs in the first boys' firstround game at 6 p.m. Thursday. Trinity of Alma plays Concordia (B) at 8 p.m.
The championship semifinals will be Friday. St. Paul's will play the winner of the Concordia (A)/Sweet Springs game at 6 p.m. Immanuel will take on the winner of the Trinity/Concordia (B) game at 8 p.m.
The two losing teams from the first-round games will meet for the consolation Saturday at 10 a.m. The losers of the championship semifinal games play for third place Saturday at noon.
The championship game will be played at 2 p.m. Saturday.
Concordia (A) has grabbed the No. 1 seed and one of the two first-round byes. Immanuel is the No. 2 seed and gets the other bye.
The first game of the tournament pits Sweet Springs against St. Paul's at 5 p.m. Thursday. At 7 p.m. Thursday, Trinity tangles with Concordia (B).
The championship semifinals are set for Concordia (A) against the Sweet Springs/St. Paul's winner and Immanuel against the Trinity/Concordia (B) winner at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., respectively, Friday.
The losers of the first-round contests advance to the consolation final at 9 a.m. Saturday. The losers of the championship semifinal games play each other for third place Saturday at 11 a.m. The championship game is set for 1 p.m. Saturday.
