Lady Orioles drop game to Wellington
It was a tough week last week for the Concordia Lady Oriole softball team, losing 12-8 to Wellington Tuesday and 15-3 to Northwest Wednesday.
Wellington 12, at Concordia 8
The Lady Tigers scored three runs in the sixth and four in the seventh to register the victory.
Concordia led 3-2 after one inning and 7-3 after two. The Lady Tigers pulled within 7-5 after four and took an 8-7 lead after the top of the sixth.
Shay Schnakenberg singled, stole second and eventually scored the game-tying run for CHS in the bottom of the sixth.
Wellington put together two singles, a double, a walk, two sacrifices and one Lady Oriole error to plate four runs in the top of the seventh.
Britlin Murray had a one-out walk, but that was it for the Lady Orioles in the home half of the seventh.
The Lady Orioles had 12 hits, led by Hailee Langkrahr's three singles and a triple. Mandy Latty, Shanda Norris and Schnakenberg each had two hits and Kayla Brackman and Aubrey Roemig a single apiece. Latty, Norris, Langkrahr and Schnakenberg each scored two runs. Langkrahr had four RBIs and Hailey Foster, Brackman and Murray each drove in one run.
Brackman was the losing pitcher, allowing 12 runs on 10 hits and five walks while striking out three.
Northwest 15, at Concordia 3
The Lady Mustangs made a statement early on, scoring nine runs in the first inning. They added two in the third, one in the fourth and three in the fifth. CHS scored two in the second and one in the fourth.
Northwest pounded 18 hits, including five players with three hits. Two Lady Mustangs hit home runs.
The Lady Orioles were held to five hits, all singles. Foster, Katlin Murray, Britlin Murray, Allie Beydler and Schnakenberg had the base hits. Foster, Katlin Murray and Britlin Murray each scored a run.
Katlin Murray was the losing pitcher, striking out four.
