Martha L. Johnson
Martha L. Johnson, 91, of Odessa died May 7, 2010, at her home. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Neal officiating. The body will be cremated.
Mrs. Johnson was born on May 9, 1918, at Odessa. She was the daughter of William Warren and Nannie Imogene Noland Dyer. She married Wesley Ballard Johnson on May 4, 1940, at Odessa. She was a retired elementary school teacher of 33 years, teaching mostly in the Odessa School District. She graduated in 1936 from Odessa High School. She received her bachelor's and master's degrees in education from Central Missouri State Teachers College at Warrensburg. She was inducted into the Odessa Education Foundation Hall of Fame in 2005. She was a member of Missouri Teachers Association and Delta Kappa Gama Education Sorority. She was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by her husband; two sons, Bill Johnson of Houston, Texas, and Kevin Johnson of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a daughter, Mrs. Mike (Phyllis) Noe of Odessa; a brother, Hollis Dyer of Oak Grove; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Vernon Dyer and Wilbur Dyer; a sister, Alene Fizer; a grandson; and a great-great-granddaughter.
The pallbearers will be Jannie Kleoppel, Kristy Harvey, Kyle Johnson, Matt Johnson, Chad Johnson, Adam Johnson and Blake Johnson.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Martha L. Johnson Education Scholarship Fund.
The family will receive friends from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday preceding the service at the church.
