Lions have been almost perfect
It was a successful last couple of weeks for the Lions Minor League baseball team as they won all six games they played.
The Lions shut out the Carrollton Rookies 17-0 and beat them again 16-7, whipped Sweet Springs 15-5 and dropped Higginsville Guier 12-1. The Lions beat Santa Fe Alma 9-5 and Carrollton Bankers 14-1.
Lions 12, Higginsville Guier 1
Caleb Pfannkuch had a single and a home run and Tate Bittiker a single and a triple for Lions. Completing their nine-hit attack were singles from Kade Meineka, Micah Gerdts, Cameron Cooper, Micah Lem-mons and Colton DePee. Cooper and Bittiker each scored three runs, Pfannkuch two and Lemmons, Tyler Marlin, Cole Tyler and Jame-son Rudy one apiece. Pfannkuch drove in seven runs, Bittiker two and Meineka one.
Bittiker tossed a complete-game four-hitter, fanning 11.
Lions 15, Sweet Springs 5
Lions scored five times in the first, second and fourth frames. Sweet Springs countered with one in the first and four in the second.
Pfannkuch muscled up with two of the four home runs for Lions. Meineka tripled and homered and Cooper singled and homered. Lemmons whacked two doubles, Gerdts a single and a double and Peyton Moore and Rudy a single apiece. Cooper, Lemmons, Meineka, Pfannkuch and Gerdts each scored two runs and Bittiker, Tyler Redford, Turner Yount, Tyler and Rudy one each. Meineka, Pfannkuch and Cooper each drove in three runs, Moore two and Rudy one. Lemmons started on the hill, giving up two hits and striking out five. Cooper came on in relief, allowing one hit and fanning seven.
Lions 17, at Rookies 0
Lions opened the scoring with two runs in the first inning and plated five runs in the second, third and fourth frames.
Meineka singled and homered and Moore had two singles to lead Lions. Pfannkuch, Lemmons, Rudy, Redford and DePee each singled. Meineka scored three runs, Lemmons, Moore and DePee two apiece and Bittiker, Pfannkuch, Gerdts, Redford, Yount, Mar-lin, Tyler and Rudy one each. Meineka had four RBIs, Moore three, Rudy and Red-ford two each and DePee one.
Meineka hurled a no-hitter, walking two and striking out 10.
at Lions 16, Rookies 7
The Lions scored five times in the first and third frames and six times in the fourth. The Rookies plated a run in the second inning, three in the third and three in the fourth.
Lemmons was the hitting star with two doubles and a home run for Lions. Gerdts drilled a triple, DePee a double and Bittiker, Pfannkuch and Moore a single each. Lem-mons scored three runs, Cooper, Bittiker and Pfan-nkuch two each and Meineka, Gerdts, Redford, Yount, De-Pee, Marlin and Tyler one each. Lemmons drove in three runs, Pfannkuch and Gerdts two apiece and Moore one.
Bittiker struck out six, Meineka three and Lemmons one on the combined four-hitter.
Lions 9, Santa Fe Alma 5
Lions had a triple from Bittiker, a double from Pfannkuch and a single from Lem-mons. Pfannkuch and Moore each scored two runs and Lem-mons, Meineka, Redford, Yount and DePee one each. Bittiker and Pfannkuch each had one RBI.
Bittiker struck out 10 and Meineka fanned one in mound duty.
Lions 14, Bankers 1
Lemmons had two triples and a single, Moore a double and Meineka, Pfannkuch, Cooper, Lemmons and DePee a single apiece for Lions. Lemmons, Pfannkuch and Moore each scored two runs and Bittiker, Meineka, Yount, DePee, Marlin, Tyler, Rudy and Cooper one each. Lem-mons drove in five runs, Moore two and Meineka and Pfannkuch one each.
Bittiker (two strikeouts), Gerdts (three), Moore (two) and Yount all pitched for Lions.
