In a winner-take-all game, instead of Perryville having to beat LaCoMo East twice, the local Senior League girls' softballers came through with a dominating 11-1 victory, winning the state championship last week Tuesday at Joplin.

LaCoMo East, which won its way to the championship game by downing Columbia 12-11 last week Monday and had beaten Perryville 7-2 earlier in round-robin play, fell behind in the championship game when Perryville dented the scoreboard with a run in the home half of the second frame.

Then it was all LaCoMo East, which scored five runs in the third and fourth frames and one in the sixth, eventually ending the game via the 10-run rule.

After LaCoMo East went down 1-2-3 in the first inning, it threatened to score first in the second inning.

With one out, back-to-back-to-back singles by Breanna Vogelsmeier, Chelsea Hollrah and Kelsey White loaded the bases. But Alyssa Hamblen and Kati Walker each struck out, stranding three.

A walk to Chelsea Winter opened LaCoMo East's third-inning rally. Singles by Savanna DePee, Rebecca Tyler and Winter produced LaCoMo East's first run. Vogelsmeier coaxed a walk for an RBI and Hollrah's fly out to left field drove home Tyler.

White whacked a two-run double that scored Fuehring and Vogelsmeier. Hamblen and Walker grounded out to end the threat.

It was more of the same for LaCoMo East in the fourth.

Winter, DePee and Tyler each singled and Fuehring's ground out scored Winter. Vogelsmeier's single scored DePee. Hollrah walked and White swatted a three-run double that plated Tyler, Vogels-meier and Hollrah.

Hamblen and Shelby Hall each walked to reload the bases, but Winter struck out and DePee grounded out to end the inning.

In the LaCoMo East sixth inning, DePee opened with a walk. Hamblen's ground out moved DePee into scoring position and Hall's ground out moved DePee to third base, where she scored on a two-out base hit by Winter. White followed with a base hit, but Tyler grounded out to end the frame.

While the LaCoMo East bats came alive with 14 hits, including two doubles, the pitching of Fuehring and Tyler did the job on Perryville's hitters.

Fuehring hurled the first four frames, allowing one run on six hits and struck out one. Tyler hurled the fifth and sixth innings, giving up one hit and fanning two.

White finished the game with two singles, two doubles, five RBIs and a run scored to lead LaCoMo East. Winter, DePee, Tyler and Vogelsmeier each had two singles and each scored two runs, with Vogels-meier being credited with two RBIs. Fuehring singled and had two RBIs and a run scored. Hollrah singled, scored a run and drove in one.

LaCoMo East advanced on to the Central Regional at South Bend, Ind., which began Sunday.
