Jamborees set for Friday night
Just a little more than a week remains before the start of the 2010 high-school football season, so the annual jamborees, or as some put it, fall scrimmages, are set for Friday night at several different venues for I-70 Conference teams.
The Concordia Orioles, under the direction of John Cox, take their turn to host the jamboree that includes Larry Laubenstein's Saint Paul Saints, Santa Fe Chiefs, mentored by Andy Frerking, and the Sweet Springs Greyhounds, led by new head coach Kyle Naylor. The event is set to start at 6:30.
The Crest Ridge Cougars, under the tutelage of Chris Cavanah, and Quenton Bain-bridge's Wellington Tigers are to be with Wentworth at Braymer at 7.
Pat Richard's Orrick Bearcats play host to Cass-Midway and Lathrop for a three-team jamboree at 5:30.
Mike Hedrick's Lone Jack Mules, newcomers to the conference to replace the Windsor Greyhounds, who are now members of the Kaysinger Conference, are not participating in a jamboree.
Each team in a four-team jamboree runs 12 plays against each team's defense. If there are three teams, then each offense will runs 18 plays.
