Wednesday, March 9, 2011

A crash in rural Lafayette County Saturday left a Higginsville teenager with moderate injuries.

A preliminary report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol states the crash occurred at 12:36 p.m. at the intersection of Jennings and Bear Groves roads.

The crash site is a few miles northeast of the Higginsville Junction area.

According to the report, Benjamin R. Nuelle, 19, was driving north on Bear Grove Road in a 2000 Dodge Intrepid. When turning left onto Jennings Road, he apparently failed to yield to an oncoming 2004 Mecury Mountaineer driven by 21-year-old Jacob A. Romesburg of Corder.

The two vehicles collided, causing moderate damage to both.

Nuelle, who was wearing a seat belt, was the only person injured in the crash.

Higginsville emergency responders transported him to Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence for treatment.
