Thompson finishes second in A modified feature at LA Raceway

Wednesday, June 22, 2011

With 22 heavy-hitters signing in to the Pitts Homes of Warsaw A Modifieds, it was anyone's guess as to who would cross the finish line first. Heat race winners were Chad Lyle (Lone Jack), Joe Walker (Harrisonville) and Dustin Boney (Tonganoxie, Kan.). Lyle started on the pole and led 19 of the 20 lap feature but with one lap to go the No. 5C driven by Lyle broke a drive shaft. This put Boney in the lead with a lap car between him and the No. 20 car of Jason Thompson (Concordia). Thompson disposed of the lap car but not in time to close on Boney. It was Boney, Thompson, Jake Richards (Kansas City, Kan.), Terry Schultz (Sedalia) and David Barker (Kingsville) taking the top five positions at LA Raceway at La Monte Friday.

The 81A of Lane Stone (Concordia) led 11 of the 15 lap Gill Signs 305 Sprint feature with authority before the familiar No. 51 of Mitchell Moore (Edgerton, Kan.) took over on a restart. Stone tried to regain the lead but Moore held on for the win. Behind them Brian Beebe (Oak Grove), Mike Schouten (La Monte) and Christi Hoenshell (Green-wood) were fighting for the remaining top five positions.

In the Pitts Homes of Warsaw B Modified feature, the No. 23L of Tyler Lewis (Columbia) dominated with the No. 211 of Justin Metzner (Sedalia) trying to find a way to catch him and Bob Russell (Lee's Summit), Steve Bugg (Sedalia) and Ernie Walker (Sedalia) rounding out the top five.

The Xtreme Motors Street Stocks also had a repeat winner with Jay Prevete (Windsor) leading the entire 12-lap feature followed to the line by Kevin Perkins (Sedalia), Victor Sims (Peculiar), Brian Eckhoff (Higginsville) and Zach Crabtree (Cole Camp) finishing out the top five positions.

Ronnie Livengood (Sedalia) also led all 12 laps of the Jim's Tire Service Hobby Stock feature, but had the JC car driven by Michael Hudson (Kingsville) to fend off after the No. 96B of John Simpson retired from the race with engine problems. Steven Tyler (Knob Noster), Douglas Coffey (Windsor) and Will Register (Sedalia) crossed the finish line behind them to complete the top five.

Friday, the ASCS 360 Warrior Region Sprint Cars return to the L A Raceway presented by Mid Mo Auto Sales of Sedalia. Also on the program will be the Gill Signs 305 Sprints and the Midwest Lightning Sprints.
