Anna Bell Meisman, 87, of Independence and formerly of Sweet Springs, died July 7, 2011. A double funeral service was held on Saturday at St. John United Church of Christ at Emma for her and her sister, Verana Jones, who died July 5, 2011. The Rev. Tim Biesemeyer officiated. Burial for both was in Fairview Cemetery at Sweet Springs.

Mrs. Meisman was born Feb. 19, 1924, at Sweet Springs. She was the daughter of Christian and Anna Brockman Heaper. She married Francis E. Meisman on April 14, 1951. She worked for International Shoe Company at Sweet Springs and The Jones Store Co.

Mrs. Meisman is survived by a sister, Rose Knapheide of Young Town, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Aug. 24, 1971; five brothers, Otto Heaper, Herbert Heaper, Irvin Heaper, Elmer Heaper and Raymond Heaper; and two sisters, Edna Werths and Verana Jones.

The pallbearers were Bob Werths, Rodney Heaper, C.W. Heaper, Don Oehlschlaeger, Jim Combs and Bill Cottrell. The honorary pallbearers were Curtis Heaper, Gene Heaper and Larry Heaper.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the church or Odyssey Hospice.

Arrangements were made by Speaks Suburban Chapel at Independence.
