Brian Cole of Higginsville (right) helps a customer at his stand at the Concordia Farmer's Market last Thursday. Cole, who also sells produce in Warrensburg and Higginsville, said sales have been down this year due to the hot weather. Fewer patrons and venders are attending the markets because it is too hot.
The heat has also affected the produce. He said when temperatures soar into the 90s and 100s, quality diminishes and many plants produce less fruits or vegetables.
