Lawrence William Horman, 93, of Emma died Sept. 12, 2011, at Emma. Funeral Services were held Friday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church near Emma. Burial with military rites was in the church cemetery.

Mr. Horman was born Dec. 25, 1917, in the Flora community near Alma. He was the son of Henry and Ida Gieseke Horman. He married Marian L. Brackman on May 5, 1946. He lived in the Emma area most of his life where he was a lifelong farmer and carpenter. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was the oldest and longest living member of Concordia American Legion Post 258. He was a member of Holy Cross church where he served as an elder and trustee and was a member of the men's club, men's Bible class and the church braille program.

Mr. Horman is survived by his wife of the home; two sons, Stanley Horman of Sweet Springs and Randall Horman of Emma; three daughters, Mrs. Michael (Carol) Boan, Mrs. Richard (Marlys) Rennison and Mrs. Michael (Judith) Staples of Sweet Springs; a brother, Henry Horman of Sweet Springs; a sister, Opal Duen-sing of Higginsville; 14 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Larry Horman; a brother, Harvey Horman; and two sisters, Mildred Brunkhorst and Verna Horman.

The pallbearers were Wesley Ohrenberg, Vernon Ohrenberg, Robert Ohrenberg, James Bargfrede, Steve Bargfrede, Stuart Bargfrede and Doug Horman. The honorary pallbearers were Robert Duensing, Gary Duensing, Richard Bargfrede and Virgil Brunkhorst.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the church or to a family choice.
