Road district accepts clerk's resignation

The resignation of Sharon Fiene, clerk for Concordia Special Road District, was accepted at the Jan. 9 road district board meeting.

Fiene's resignation, effective immediately, was accepted with regrets and a $500 severance package was unanimously voted for her by the board.

It was decided to contact Meyer Tax and Accounting at Emma to serve on an interim basis until the clerk position is filled.

The clerk's job description was discussed and some minor changes were made.

Bruce Hartwig was asked to put a help wanted ad for the position in The Concordian to run on Jan. 18 and 25.

Tim Schelp of Schelp Trucking LLC at Emma was present for the opening of the rock hauling bids.

Two bids were received for the rock hauling -- Schelp Trucking for $3.50 per ton and Gieselman Trucking LLC at Corder for $4 per ton. Schelp's bid was accepted.

A rock bid was received from Apac off I-70 at Highway 65 exit at $7.50 per ton; and Mid-Missouri Limestone at Houstonia phoned in a comparable bid. Both bids were accepted.

One fuel bid was received and accepted from MFA Oil Company at Sweet Springs at 3 cents per gallon over cost.

All bids are contracted for one year.

Hartwig reported a request to install a driveway culvert. This will be done as weather permits and a culvert is made available. Hartwig also reported workers have been grading roads, and ditching will continue, weather permitting.

Light gravel applications have been applied in various places throughout the district.

The board decided to advertise the district's 1981 International dump truck for sale on craigslist.com.

Also present at the meeting were Rick Flandermeyer, chairman; Don Schlesselman, vice chairman; and Alan Vogelsmeier, secretary-treasurer.

The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. Feb. 13.
