Lions split season's first two games

The Concordia Lions Major League baseball team split its first two games of the Little League season.

The Lions were edged 9-7 by Carrollton on May 7 and throttled Lexington 19-2 three nights later.

Lions totaled 20 hits, in-cluding an out-of-the-park home run off the bat of Ca-meron Kelly.

Turner Yount had three singles, a double and a triple and Cameron Cooper three base hits and a triple. Luke Roepe added two singles and a double and Carter Warren a single and a two-bagger. Peyton Moore and Kade Meineka each had two base hits and Micah Gerdts a single.

Roepe led the team with five runs batted in, followed by Kelly with three, Yount, Cooper and Warren two each and Moore, Meineka and Gerdts one each.

Cooper hurled the distance for the mound win, allowing two hits and striking out seven.

Lions had nine hits, including a single, a double and a triple from Meineka. Cooper singled and doubled. Moore and Colton DePee each had two singles and Yount one. Meineka drove in three runs, Cooper two and Moore and Warren one each.

Meineka, Gerdts and Coo-per all toed the rubber for Lions. Meineka fanned seven.
