Fae Franke

Fae Franke, 101, of Higginsville died June 1, 2012, at Meyer Care Center at Higginsville. Funeral services were held Monday at Salem United Church of Christ at Higginsville with the Rev. Michael Christensen officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Franke was born Jan. 17, 1911, at Concordia. She was the daughter of Martin and Lena Evert Tieman. She married Hubert Franke on Aug. 2, 1930. She was a graduate of Concordia High School. She lived at Bates City and Independence, moving to Higginsville in 1944. She worked at Montgomery Ward in Kansas City and as a cook at Lafayette County C-1 High School, retiring in 1981. She volunteered as a foster grandparent at the Higginsville Habilitation Center for 15 years. She was a member of Salem church and the Salem Women's Fellowship.

Mrs. Franke is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Donald (Barbara) Siegfried of Higginsville; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband on March 7, 1989; two brothers, Ervin Tieman and Martin Tieman; and four sisters, Adelia Brockman, Freda Kramer, Olga Heyembrock and Nola Klingenberg.

The pallbearers were Mike Siegfried, Jared Siegfried, Shane Siegfried, Jim Siegfried, Tim Cowan and Anthony Cowan.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the church or to the church cemetery fund.
