Junior League team beats Carrollton

The Concordia Bank/Cock-rell & McIntosh Pediatrics (CB/CMP) Junior League baseball team downed Car-rollton Cox in both games of a doubleheader on May 21.

CB/CMP won the first game 9-7, breaking a 5-5 tie with four runs in the fourth in-ning. CB/CMP hammered the host team 20-6 in the nightcap.

In the opener, CB/CMP had four hits, including a single and a triple from Jordan Schlueter and a single and a double from Dalton Visentin. Wyatt Jones and Schlueter each scored three runs, Vi-sentin two and Spencer Brown one. Schlueter and Visentin each had three RBIs.

Schlueter hurled the first three frames to earn the win. He allowed five runs (two earned) on five hits and nine walks while fanning seven. Collin Stringer earned the save, giving up two earned runs on one hit and three walks while whiffing two in the fourth inning.

The game was ended after four frames due to the two-hour time limit.

A 12-run first inning for CB/CMP set the tone for the blowout in game two, which ended after two frames due to the two-hour time limit.

Derek Woodall led the of-fense with a single and a double. Visentin and Jones each had two singles and Austin Werths, Schlueter and Noah Sleeper a single each. Werths, Woodall, Visentin and Jones each scored three runs, Schlue-ter, Jackson Irwin and Sleeper two each and John Sparks and Jonah Irwin one each. Woodall drove in four runs, Schlueter three, Jones, Stringer and Jack-son Irwin two each and Werths, Visentin, Sparks and Sleeper one each.

Sleeper pitched the first inning for the win. He gave up two earned runs on two hits and four walks and struck out one. Visentin allowed four runs (three earned) on four hits and one walk while striking out the side in the second.
