Mrs. Tankesley was born April 2, 1933, at Concordia. She was the daughter of George D. and Ella Freese Stumpenhaus. She married Robert E. Tankesley on July 29, 1951. She was a 1951 graduate of Higginsville High School. She lived most of her life at Higginsville. She worked at Higginsville Savings and Loan and North American Savings, retiring as branch manager in 1995.
She was a former member of the Higginsville Business and Professional Women's Club and the Red Flappers of the Red Hat Society. She was a member of Salem church where she was active in the Eve Circle of the Women's Fellowship and a former member of the choir and council.
Mrs. Tankesley is survived by her husband of the home; two daughters, Debbie Tankes-ley of Kansas City and Cherri Wilson of Lebanon; and one granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by a son, R. Bret Tankesley; and a brother, Norman Stump-enhaus.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the church.
