Ward Sherman Dittmer, 52, of Higginsville died June 16, 2012, at his home. Memorial services are scheduled for 11 a.m. today at Immanuel Lutheran Church at Higginsville with the Rev. Marcus Jauss officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. today at the church. Inurnment will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery at Corder.

Mr. Dittmer was born Feb. 18, 1960, at Lexington. He was the son of Willard and Catherine Kessler Dittmer. He was a 1978 graduate of Lafayette County C-1 High School at Higginsville. He was a carpenter for Don Julian Builders in the Kansas City area, retiring in 2008. He was a member of Immanuel church.

Mr. Dittmer is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Michael (Katie) Schreiman of Waverly and Cassie Hyden-Schnittker of Higginsville; his mother of Higginsville; two brothers, Mark Dittmer and Kenton Dittmer of Higginsville; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father on Jan. 2, 2005.

The honorary pallbearers are Rex Carter, Mark Atkinson, Bruce Hartwig, Alfred Mallot and Stu Starke.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the church.
