Brackman vies for state crown

Wednesday, August 8, 2012

The 2011 Concordia Fall Festival Queen Halli Brackman will represent Concordia at the 2012 Missouri State Fair Queen Pageant in Sedalia on Thursday and Friday.

The State Fair Queen Pageant will start Thursday with closed interviews at 8 a.m. The talent contest, which is open to the public, will begin at 2 p.m. at the Mathewson Exhibition Center on the fairgrounds.

Brackman will give a motivational speech for her talent competition. She said the speech, which she delivered at the Fall Festival Queen Contest last September, is about living in a rural community and encourages people to get involved and get the most out of life.

The evening gown contest will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, also in the Mathewson Exhibition Center. The coronation will follow at 3 p.m.

Brackman said she is ready for the event.

"I am going to go out there and be confident and do what I know I can do," she said. "It's like the Concordia contest, just with a few more people watching."

Brackman graduated salutatorian from Concordia High School in May. She will attend Central Missouri University in Warrensburg this fall. She plans to major in accounting and finance.
