David Krause, 64, of Higginsville died Aug. 12, 2012, at Lafayette Regional Health Center at Lexington. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. today at St. Mary's Catholic Church at Higgins-ville. Burial with military rites will be in Higginsville City Cemetery.

Mr. Krause was born July 19, 1948, at Waverly. He was the son of Wilbert and Anna Marie Stockman Krause. He married Monica Edwards on Aug. 21, 1976. He was a 1966 graduate of Concordia High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business from Central Missouri State University (CMSU) at Warrensburg. He served two years in the CMSU ROTC Program, attaining the rank of first lieutenant. He served in the U.S. Army at Ft. Lewis, Wash., as a training officer in infantry. He was promoted to captain in the U.S. Army Reserve in 1975. He lived in Higginsville since 1980. He worked as a claims representative for Shelter Insurance Company at Columbia, retiring in 2001. He worked for Farm Bureau Insurance, retiring in 2011. He was a member of Higginsville American Legion Post 223 and the Husker Athletic Booster Club of Lafayette County C-1 High School. He was a Little League Baseball sponsor and coach, Junior League Baseball coach and Park League Basketball coach. He was a member of St. Mary's church where he served as lector, usher and collections.

Mr. Krause is survived by his wife of the home; two sons, Ted Krause of Warrensburg and Davey Krause of Kansas City; his mother of Concordia; two brothers, Jim Krause and Steve Krause of Concordia; and a sister, Linda Krause of Henderson, Nev.

He was preceded in death by his father on Feb. 9, 2006.

The pallbearers are Jason Edwards, Jeremy Edwards, Joseph Edwards, Dwaine Edwards, Carson Conover, James Krause and Steve Krause.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the church or Lafayette County C-1 High School.
