Lady Saints have even record
Rebecca Roepe scored 15 points and pulled down 10 re-bounds, leading the visiting Saint Paul Lady Saints to a 48-29 non-conference victory at Oak Grove Friday.
The victory came three nights after the Lady Saints suffered a 38-29 loss at KC Lutheran.
It was Devon Heins draining two three-pointers in the first quarter that helped the Lady Saints' offense get going. She wound up scoring eight of her nine points in the opening eight minutes, the Lady Saints leading 14-8.
Roepe started taking charge down low in the second quarter, netting three field goals and a free throw as the Lady Saints increased the lead to 28-11 at the half.
"Our defense was better," SPLHS head coach John Beer-man said. "Our ball movement on offense was good, and we ran the floor well."
The Lady Panthers scored 13 points in the third quarter, but Saint Paul increased its lead to 43-24 behind seven more points from Roepe and four each from Marissa Brack-man and Madison Pitsch.
"Rebecca Roepe did a very good job on the boards," Beer-man said. "Her rebounding got our break started, and got us good shots."
Roepe also had three steals to top the team with Brackman and Bennett.
The Lady Saints finished with 40 rebounds, 16 on the offensive end. Bennett had seven boards, Breanna Vogelsmeier six and Leah Hof-fmann five.
Heins added five assists.
