Santa Fe edges Trojans

Carrollton scored the game's final eight points, but the host Santa Fe Chiefs held on to record a 39-37 victory Thursday in Alma.

The Chiefs got a three-point shot and eight points in the first quarter and led 13-8.

It was a 19-15 edge for the Chiefs at the break and 28-26 going to the fourth quarter.

Santa Fe's Andrew Curry netted 11 points in the first half and 13 points through the first three quarters but was held scoreless in the final stanza. Chad Tieman chipped in eight points. Truman Sleeper had all of his five points, including a three-point shot, in the final stanza.

Brandon Eschenbach led the Trojans with 14 points.

Santa Fe 68, at Lexington 51

Two nights earlier, the Chiefs pulled away with a 26-18 fourth-quarter surge for a 17-point victory at Lexington.

The Chiefs led 14-8 after the first quarter and 33-22 by halftime, Tieman pumping in 15 of his season- and career-high 31 points in the opening 16 minutes.

Tieman scored all of the Chiefs' nine third-quarter points, and they led 42-33.

Sleeper and Keaton Graf each scored five points, in-cluding a three-pointer, and Tieman seven points in the fi-nal stanza.

Curry was next for the Chiefs with eight points.

Jevon Williams had 13 points for the Minutemen.

The Gremlins controlled the game from early on, building a 17-7 lead after one quarter to 30-13 by halftime and 45-23 with a quarter to play.

The Chiefs were led by Tie-man with 13 points. No other Santa Fe player had more than four points.

Chance Spangler paced the Gremlins' balanced scoring with 10 points.
