Saint Paul players earn all-state, all-district spots

After completing its best season in school history, the Saint Paul Saints soccer team had five players selected for postseason honors.

Sam Schmidt, a senior forward, earned both a Class 1 Kansas City all-district and Class 1 first-team all-state slot. He also was named the "Offensive Player of the Year" in the district.

Jacob Rodewald, a senior midfielder, earned all-district status as well as second-team all-state honors.

Daniel Barsnes, a junior forward, was named to the all-district team and to the all-state honorable-mention list.

Also earning spots on the all-district team were senior defenseman Nolan Peters and senior goalkeeper Nathaniel Lutz.

In the final rankings, Springfield Catholic was voted No. 1. The Saints, 23-2, wound up No. 7.
