Chiefs bow to Crest Ridge

Wednesday, September 11, 2013

Although the Santa Fe Chiefs made the only touchdown in the first quarter Friday, Sept. 6, the team's field was quickly dominated by its foe Crest Ridge.

Rushing and kick-off yardage were an advantage for the visiting team, which gained more than 150 more net rushing yards than the Crest Ridge Cougars and earned 344 kick-off yards. It made up for the team's 40 total penalty yards during the game, albeit the Chiefs took 23 -- both with four penalties throughout the game.

Alex Martinez, of Santa Fe, recovered one fumble, and Ben Hinz rushed for the two touchdowns put on the board by the Chiefs.

The Chiefs face off with the Wellington-Napoleon Tigers in Wellington Sept. 13 at 7 p.m. Crest Ridge hits the road again, playing at Lone Jack Sept. 13.
