Roy Dean Schnakenberg

Roy Dean Schnakenberg, 79, of Sedalia, died Oct. 28, 2013, at Four Seasons Living Center, Sedalia. Funeral services were held Friday at Calvary Baptist Church, at Sedalia, with the Rev. Ted Francis officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery, Sedalia.

Mr. Schnakenberg was born Aug. 28, 1934, at Marshall. He was the son of Roy O. and Mary M. Bridges Schnakenberg. He married Wilma Flandermeyer on Sept. 17, 1955, at Concordia. She died July 7, 1989. He married Lois Jane Lewis on April 11, 1992, at Sedalia. He attended Moberly Area Community College. He was a truck driver for Tastee Bread and Banta Foods. He operated Dairy Queen in Sedalia from 1972 to 1981, retiring in 1995. He was a crossing guard at Horace Mann Elementary, at Sedalia, following retirement. He was a member of Calvary church.

Mr. Schnakenberg is survived by his wife, of the home; three sons, Jeff Schnakenberg, of Buffalo, Daryl Schnakenberg, of Smithton, and Bryan Schnakenberg, of Sedalia; two daughters, Mrs. David (Dana) Yeater, of Sedalia, and Mrs. Michael (Andrea) Beasley, of Dixon; two stepsons, Kevin Hunter, of Colorado, and Lewis Hunter, of Iowa; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Rick (Shirley) Jensen, of Kansas; two sisters, Jane Ann Famuliner, of Oregon, and Mrs. Chuck (Carol) Hilterbrand, of Utah; nine grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a stepson, George Hunter.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the church.

The pallbearers were Michael Schnakenberg, Jacob Schnakenberg, Benjamin Schnakenberg, Tyler Schnakenberg, Brent Hunter, Neil Yeater and Michael Beasley. The honorary pallbearers were Craig Ringwald, Keith Schnakenberg and Brett Marler-Norton.

Arrangements were made by Rea Funeral Chapel at Sedalia.
