Harlan Bargfrede, 84, of Alma, died March 11, 2014, at the Lutheran Nursing Home, at Concordia. Funeral services were held Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, at Alma, with the Rev. Timothy Miille officiating. Burial with military rites was in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery, in the Flora Community near Alma.
Mr. Bargfrede was born on April 20, 1929, at Alma. He was the son of Leonard and Agnes Strathman Bargfrede. He married Goldie Lavon Naught on March 28, 2005. He attended grade school in the Flora community. He farmed his entire life and was known for his agriculture and conservation work. He was a member of Trinity church. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Bargfrede is survived by two brothers, Edwin Bargfrede and Johann Bargfrede, of Alma; and two sisters, Mrs. Ledrue (Leona) Brandt, of Concordia, and Mrs. Arlin (Edna) Carter, of Bella Vista, Ark.
He was preceded in death by his wife on March 7, 2011; and a brother, Ernest Bargfrede.
The pallbearers were Larry Bargfrede, Christopher Bargfrede, Jeff Bargfrede, Gordon Brandt, Ivan Brandt and Mitchell Carter.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the church cemetery fund of the Lutheran Nursing Home.
