Final preparations set for Piccadilly Auction
All tickets are sold. All donations are collected. All details are planned. The partnership of the Concordia Chamber of Commerce and Concordia Main Street is ready for their first Piccadilly Auction of Diamonds and Denim.
According to Piccadilly Committee member Patty Schnakenberg, the auction will help rebuild and improve the chamber's presence.
"It's a way to raise money to help the chamber and Concordia Main Street better carry out their mission statements," she explained.
A variety of auction items are up for grabs, including a diamond necklace or a denim cathedral window hand-pieced quilt. The ladies-only event will also feature the top three "Tig ol' Bitties" decorated bras, which will be auctioned, and the proceeds from that auction will support the organization. Auction services are provided by Davis and Bell, of Warrensburg.
The main auction, however, is a quarter auction. Participants will place quarters in a bucket to be eligible to win auction prizes. If a person's paddle number is chosen, that person will win the item.
CMS and the chamber will decorate the Concordia Community Center on Thursday and Friday. The auction and dinner begins at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 28. Various caterers and other vendors are providing the meal for the event. According to Schnakeberg, many local and area merchants helped sponsor the auction and meal.
