Little League: Britt's majors split games

Two nights after dropping a 12-6 decision at Sweet Springs Schroeder Fencing, the Britt's major league baseball team came back with a vengeance, whipping Marshall's Con Agra 18-1 on May 29.

Britt's pounded Con Agra pitching for 13 hits, including five for extra bases.

Austin Droege paced the offense for Britt's with three singles and a double. Josiah Kunkel singled, doubled and tripled and Payton Arnold singled and doubled twice. Luke Roepe, Jacob Wasson and Dante Stockwell each added a base hit.

Droege scored four runs, Kunkel and Stockwell three each, Jonathan Miller, Arnold and Wasson two each and Roepe one. Droege and Kunkel each drove in four runs, Arnold three and Roepe one.

Droege hurled the first three frames, earning the win. He allowed one hit and four walks while fanning six. In an inning of work, Miller surrendered one run on one hit and two walks.

Schroeder Fencing was trailing Britt's 6-3 going to the bottom of the fourth but batted around and scored nine runs.

The game ended after Britt's was held scoreless in the top of the fifth.

Britt's led 1-0 after one inning. The game was tied 1-1 through two frames. Britt's was on top 4-3 through three innings.

Kunkel laced a triple and Droege, Arnold and Wasson a single each for Britt's.

Droege scored three runs and Miller, Kunkel and Arnold one each. Kunkel had three RBIs, Roepe two and Wasson one.

Jacob Hall belted a two-run home run and scored three runs for Schroeder Fencing. Hunter Sims added a single, a run scored and two RBIs.

Roepe hurled the first 2-1/3 innings, giving up three runs on one hit and two walks and fanned three. Kunkel tossed the next 1-1/3 innings and suffered the loss, allowing five runs on three hits and two free passes and struck out two. In the final third of an inning, Droege surrendered four runs on two hits and a walk and whiffed one.

Britt's is 4-1 in league play and 6-1 overall.
