Fishing fun for summer school students

Tuesday, June 10, 2014
Students recently studied ecology as part of the Concordia R-2 School District's Summer School program by fishing at Edwin A. Pape Lake Tuesday, June 3. Eighth-grader Kirsten Borgstadt (left) caught a bluegill, while eighth-grader Shaye Verbugt (center) caught a crapie as seventh-grader Savannah McGinnis (right) pulls up a fish of her own. The students are part of Nathan Beissenherz's junior high ecology class. In cooperation with the Missouri Department of Conservation, students will also learn how to shoot archery using the MONASP (Missouri National Archery in the Schools Program) equipment provided by the department, and the class is currently working toward completing their Hunter Education Certification.
