Gerdts receives broadcasting awards
Nathan Gerdts, of Concordia, and sophomore at Missouri Valley College, in Marshall, has received several awards through the 2015 Missouri Broadcast Educators Association state competition. He is the son of Chris and Amy Gerdts, of Concordia. MBEA is the educational arm of the Missouri Broadcaster's Association, according to a MVC press release.
Gerdts received awards for audio play-by-play, first place; audio news show, first place; audio feature, honorable mention; and audio news, first place.
The contest recognizes student media produced during 2014, and contest entries are judged by broadcast professionals from throughout the midwest, the release stated. Student work was produced for MVC's campus radio station, KMVC 91.7-The V, the campus television studio, MVC-TV and MVC's sports broadcast network, the Viking Sports Network.
MBEA consists of 16 colleges and universities in Missouri. The purpose of the association is to encourage and coordinate educational and instructional activities related to broadcast education in the state.
