Bridge supports move through town

Wednesday, September 14, 2016
Three 100-foot concrete and steel reinforcing bar I-beams travel down South Main Street in Concordia Wednesday, Sept. 7. The trucks, which couldn't traverse the truck route established during the Concordia Fall Festival, had to travel past a number of the festival's carnival rides. The Missouri Department of Transportation coordinated with the city of Concordia and Evans Midland Empire Shows to safely get the structural supports to the construction site of the Blackwater Bridge on Mo. Route 23, south of Concordia, in Johnson County. Carnival games, other booths and rides could not be put in place until Wednesday afternoon, after the beams had traveled through town.
