Higginsville man injured in I-70 crash

Concordia EMS assisted in an Interstate 70 crash that occurred near the 52.4-mile marker Wednesday evening, Nov. 16.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, the 64-year-old Higginsville driver sustained moderate injuries.

The crash took place shortly before 8:15 p.m. after the driver, Alan C. Lumpkins, was stopped on the shoulder. The report stated that for unknown reasons, the vehicle accelerated, crossed both eastbound lanes, traveled off the left side of the road and struck the median cable. Minor damage was done to the 2010 Ford Escape Lumpkins was driving, and he was wearing a safety device, according to the report.

He was transported to a hospital by ambulance for treatment.
