Billy Ray Smith
Billy Ray Smith, 82, of Emma, died Friday, Feb. 24, 2017, at his home.
Memorial services with military rites were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Concordia, with William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation was held from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to family choice. Friends may sign the online register book at www.campbell-lewis.com.
Born Nov. 16, 1934, in Viola, Ark., Billy Ray was the son of the late Bill Smith and Carrie Deatherage Smith Ellis. He had served in the U.S. Army. On Aug. 16, 1958, he married June Foster, who survives of the home. He lived in the Concordia and Emma area since 1973 and was owner/operator of Smith Installation.
In addition to his wife, June, Billy Ray is survived by three children, Gina Horman and husband Randy of rural Concordia, Cynthia Smith of Grain Valley, and Anthony Smith of Emma; eight grandchildren, Kelsey Merrick and husband Ben, Haley Fowler and husband Brenton, Alyssa Brandt and husband Steve, Kaylynn Haesemeyer, Kellie Berry and husband Boone, Anthon Smith, Austin Smith and Ashlynn Smith; seven great-grandchildren, McKenna Meyer, Bryce Merrick, Breanna Merrick, Bryer Fowler, Kye Fowler, Hagen Brandt and Rylee Brandt; two brothers, Devon Smith and wife Evelyn, of Inverness, Fla., and Devoe Smith and wife Betty of Harrisonville; one sister, Wanda Cantrell of Independence, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Billy Ray was preceded in death by his stepfather, Lloyd Ellis; and one brother, Quinton Smith.
