Robert Lee “Shorty” Meyer
Robert Lee “Shorty” Meyer, 85, of rural Concordia, Missouri, died Monday, May 8, 2017 at Sweet Springs Villa in Sweet Springs.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 12, 2017 at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Concordia with William W. Harlow officiating. Burial with military rites will follow at Bethel Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Dunksburg Christian Church or Preferred Hospice. Born Nov. 4, 1931 in Sweet Springs, he was the son of the late August W. Meyer and Clara Ehlers Meyer. Shorty lived in the rural Concordia area most of his life and was a member of Bethel United Church of Christ. For many years he drove a milk truck for Emma Creamery, and then later worked as a mechanic for Arnold’s Garage, in addition to farming. He was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include three children: David Meyer of rural Concordia, Nancy Wilson and husband Craig of Concordia, and Kenny Meyer and wife Mary of rural Concordia; eight grandchildren; two step granddaughters; three great-grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; one brother, Donald
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Wilfred “Bill” Meyer.
Pallbearers are Jeremiah Wilson, James Wilson, Kevin Meyer, Brian Meyer, Chuck Cook and Carter Cook. Honorary pallbearers are Hannah Meyer, Mary Cook, Reyna Meyer, McKenna Cook and Charlie Cook.
