Four Oriole linksters moving on to sectionals

Wednesday, May 10, 2017

A tremendous season for the Concordia Orioles’ boys’ golf team continues into the MSHSAA state championships.

The Orioles had four individual golfers qualify for the Class 1 sectionals after their performance at the District 5 tournament on Tuesday, May 2, at the Shirkey Country Club in Richmond.

Concordia shot a score of 368 to finish third out of 10 teams, missing qualifying as a team by a pair of strokes but earning a chance to get a team score at the sectional tournament because of the individual golfers moving on.

Kade Meineka continued his stellar season with an individual district championship, firing a 77 on the par-71, 18-hole course. Meineka was joined on the All-District team by Landon Mulligan, who finished eighth with a 90, and Tad Deathrage, who shot a 94 to finish eleventh.

Tanner Wilson made it a foursome moving on to sectionals with a 107, good enough for 17th amongst the 39 golfers. The Orioles headed to LA Nickell Golf Course in Columbia for sectional play on Monday, May 8.
