PT Catchers walks off to start 2017 summer softball
PT Catchers went into Higginsville and, after cruising to an easy win in the first game of a doubleheader 11-4, scraped out a walkoff win in game two 11-10.
Trailing 10-7 in the bottom of the fourth and final inning, Hali Deathrage led off with a single and would score on a base hit by Kirsten Streeter. Kaleigh Benson walked and eventually stole home plate, and after Landry Yount doubled, she too would steal home for the winning run.
Streeter pitched the first 3 2/3 innings, allowing six hits and 13 walks while striking out nine. Kyla Inman got the last out of the fourth with a punchout and earned the win.
Benson had two hits and a run batted in. Streeter also had a pair of hits and drove in three, while Yount smacked a duo of doubles to score two runs.
In game one, PT jumped out to an early 4-2 and never looked back, scoring 5 runs in the third and 2 more in the fourth.
Inman earned the win by pitching all four innings, giving up four hits and four walks while collecting five K’s. Streeter, Abigail Kollbaum and Brooke Bonar each scored two runs in what was the first game of the new 2017 Little League Softball Majors season.
