Denis Dean “Dutch” Schowengerdt
Denis Dean “Dutch” Schowengerdt, 70, of Sweet Springs, died Saturday, May 27, 2017, at I-70 Community Hospital in Sweet Springs.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Sweet Springs, with William W. Harlow and Rev. Gene Ekstrand officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Sweet Springs. Memorials may be made to family choice. Born August 3, 1946, in Kansas City, Dutch was the son of the late Virgil F. Schowengerdt and Margaret Carrender Schowengerdt. He lived in Sweet Springs most of his life and was a 1964 graduate of Concordia High School. On March 18, 1967, he married Mary Dittmer, who survives of the home. In addition to his wife, Dutch is survived by two sons: Brian Schowengerdt and wife Allison of Sweet Springs, and Scott Schowengerdt and wife Hilary of Gladstone; three grandchildren: Jacob, Colin and Maria Schowengerdt; one sister, Karen Storck of Concordia; brothers-in-law, Ron Dittmer and James Storck, both of Concordia; one nephew; one niece; and several great and great-great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Dutch was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Kenneth Dittmer.
Pallbearers will be James Storck, Jeff Storck, Joe Kelly, Danny Snider, Rick Rennison and Dennis Dierking. Honorary pallbearers will be Rick Wissel, Don Sheriff and Charles Reynolds.
