Maurice Dell Deatherage, 83, of Concordia, died Monday, June 5, 2017, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 12, 2017, at Concordia Baptist Church with Bro. John Cox and Pastor Cliff Caton officiating. Burial with military rites will follow at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of the service at the church. Born Sept. 24, 1933, in Higginsville, he was the son of the late George Dallas Deatherage and Nellie Christina Linenbringer Deatherage. In 1978 Maurice married Ruth Bredehoeft Deatherage, who survives of the home. He lived in the Lafayette County area for many years where he owned and operated his salvage business, and was a member of Concordia Baptist Church. He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and member of Concordia V.F.W. Post No. 5649.

In addition to his wife, Ruth, of the home, he is survived by five children, Randall Harp and wife Rosa of Naples, Fla., Tony Deatherage and wife Tammy of Concordia, Tina Behel and husband Jeff of Dawsonville, Ga., Troy Deatherage of Belton, and Trent Deatherage of Pleasant Hill; four step-children, Patricia Meyer and husband Dennis of Emma, Donna Caton and husband Cliff of Napoleon, John Deatherage of Concordia, and Alan Deatherage and wife Nancy of Concordia; a step daughter-in-law, Donna Deatherage of Blue Springs; seven grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; numerous great and step great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one brother, Bethal Deatherage of Wellington; in-laws, Wilmer Bredehoeft, Omar and Gracie Bredehoeft, Harry and Lila Alpers, all of Concordia, and Richard and Betty Hurd of Higginsville; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two stepsons, Mike and Scott Deatherage; and 11 siblings: Josephine Henning, George Deatherage, Mildred Peppers, Harvey Deatherage, Juanita Gash, Nadine Gash, Tom Deatherage, Geneva Majors, Bill Deatherage, Alvin Deatherage and Willa Thurber.
