Betty Jean Gieseke Hebel
Betty Jean Gieseke Hebel, of Brentwood, Calif., died June 23, 2017.
Funeral Services will be held at noon on Saturday, July 1, 2017, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 38451 Fremont Blvd., in Fremont, Calif. Visitation will be held Friday, June 30, at Chapel of the Roses Mortuary, 1940 Peralta Blvd., in Fremont from 4:30-8:00 p.m. with a service at 6:30 p.m. Private burial will be at San Joaquin Valley National, Santa Nella, Calif.
Born September 15, 1931, to Andrew and Anna Emilie Gieseke in Concordia, Mo., she was the youngest of six children. In 1953 Betty came to Hayward, Calif., to teach first, second and third grades at Grace Lutheran Church School, where she met the love of her life, Herman Hebel, Jr. On Dec. 18, 1954, Betty and Herman were married at First Trinity Lutheran Church in Oakland, Calif, and he survives of the home. They lived in Fremont, where they raised two daughters, Elizabeth Jean Williams (Hebel) and Sandra Jean Hebel. Betty was also a long time member of S.P.R.S.I. and U.P.P.E.C.
In addition to her husband and daughters, she is survived by granddaughters Leah Elisabetha Williams, Jessica Eleanor Osburn and husband Nathan, and Sarah Jean Williams.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Wilfred Gieseke, Hobert Gieseke and Lambert Gieseke; and two sisters, Lillian Reinboth and Edna Burroughs.
