A Little League softball district championship came home to the LaCoMo East Majors All-Stars after they came back from an early deficit to knock off Carroll County 8-4 in Higginsville on June 30.

Carroll County grabbed two quick runs in the top of the first inning and eventually built a 4-1 lead after the top of the third. But East used keen base running and a number of steals of home plate to score four runs in the bottom half of the inning and never looked back.

Hailey Arnold was the starting pitcher and toed the rubber for all six innings to earn the win. Arnold gave up just three hits and five walks while striking out 10.

Arnold also joined Jasmine Russell and Kameron Dankenbring with the only hits for East, a trio of singles. Russell scored two runs.

The rest of the roster that claimed the district title was filled out by Kassie Schuber, Jewel Koonce, Faith Moore, Elaine Duffey, Makenzy Sartain, Carly Fahrmeier and Cassie Aversman. Charles Koonce served as manager and was assisted by coaches Craig Aversman and Mary Fahrmeier.
