LaCoMo East softball juniors thrash district foes
LaCoMo East is off to a fast start in the Little League Juniors softball District 1 tournament in Higginsville, following up a stupendous 30-0 victory over LaCoMo Central on Wednesday, July 5, with an equally impressive 13-0 thrashing of Carroll County on Saturday, July 8.
A whopping 17 runs crossed the plate in a sterling second inning to put the blowout in full effect against Central. The only member of the roster who did not record a RBIs was Olivia Hemme, but she pitched a perfect two innings as the starter, striking out the side she faced.
Addison Roepe led a lethal lineup with three hits, including a double, and five runs driven in. Emily Wilkens came up with two hits, Abby Jones drove in three runs and Izabel Koonce drew three of the 17 total walks East coaxed out.
Six runs scored in each of the first two innings versus Carroll County, and the pitching not only produced another shutout for East, but also a second straight no-hitter.
Despite not having a hit, Jones paced the lineup with four runs batted in. Roepe pitched the first three innings to earn the win, walking six and striking out seven.
