Free summer concert slated for Confederate Park

Wednesday, July 26, 2017

Grab a lawn chair or blanket and head out to Confederate Park, in Higginsville, at 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 6, for an old fashioned “concert in the park.”

Jim Haney from Lee’s Summit will present the program. Haney is a singer and guitarist playing both the steel guitar and acoustic guitar.

His performance will include country rock, western, swing, gospel, and a number of old favorites from the 1940s and 50s. Haney’s style has a smooth and unique sound, much like a small dance combo.

Ice-cold lemonade will be served before and after the performance. The concert will be held on the lawn of the Confederate Chapel, located one mile north of Higginsville.

The event is sponsored by the Confederate Memorial Friends Association and the Department of Natural Resources.
