Odessa man injured in Monday morning accident
An Odessa man sustained moderate injuries as the result of an accident involving a parked vehicle on Monday, Aug. 7. The accident occurred at 4 a.m. on westbound I-70 near the 34-mile marker.
A Missouri State Highway Patrol report states that the crash occurred when a 2001 Chevrolet driven by Alvin C. Mahard, 63, of Odessa, overtook and struck a 1999 Jeep that was parked and abandoned partially in the highway lane. Mahardís vehicle overturned and came to rest on its wheels on the interstate.
Mahard, who reportedly was wearing a seatbelt when the crash occurred, sustained moderate injuries was transported to a hospital in Independence.
