Joan Lakey, 84, of Concordia, Missouri, died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2017, at The Lutheran Nursing Home in Concordia.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017, at St. Paulís Lutheran Church in Concordia, with Rev. Jacob Mueller officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. Inurnment will be in St. Paulís Lutheran Cemetery. Born Oct. 25, 1932, in Knob Noster, Joan was the daughter of the late Henry Miller and Hilda Becker Miller. She lived in Concordia most of her life and was a graduate of Concordia High School. On May 20, 1950, she married Vernon R. Shisler, who later divorced. On Oct. 22, 1988, she married Norman Lee Lakey, who preceded her in death on Dec. 11, 2016. She was a member of St. Paulís Lutheran Church.
Survivors include two sons, Michael Shisler of Concordia and Mark Shisler and wife Cathy of Missouri City, Texas; five grandchildren, Lorrie Lilleman of Kansas City, Kelly Ketelsen and husband Mike of San Clemente, Calif., Kristy Saul and husband Eric of Kansas City, and Aaron Shisler and wife Claire and Adam Shisler and wife Emily of Houston, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Madison Lilleman, Carsen Ketelsen, Carter Ketelsen and Owen Shisler; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Joan was preceded in death by one brother, Virgil Miller; and three sisters, Berdie Anthony, Lucy Anderson and Pearl Langewisch.
