Waverly man injured in Tuesday crash

Two people suffered serious injuries when their vehicles crashed on state Highway 210 Tuesday, Oct. 3.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, the incident occurred at roughly 5:50 p.m. when a 2001 GMC 3500 driven by Lonnie G. Hayes, 57, of Kansas City, Mo. crossed the center line. The GMC struck a 2004 Jeep Wrangler head on, according to the report. Hayes, as well as the driver of the Jeep Franklin R. Mahurin, 50, of Waverly both sustained serious injuries and were taken by air ambulance to hospitals for treatment.

The crash occurred west of Route EE, and both drivers were reportedly wearing safety devices.
