Virginia M. Schnakenberg
Virginia M. Schnakenberg, 82, of Concordia, Missouri, died Monday, Oct.16, 2017 at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017, at St. Paulís Lutheran Church in Concordia with Rev. Dr. Leslie J. Mitkos officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church. Pallbearers will be Daniel Schnakenberg, Jeffrey Schnakenberg, Bryan Nierman, Harland Mieser, Herman Suhr and Gary Inman. Born April 29, 1935, in rural Concordia, she was the daughter of the late Theodore W. Buck and Clara Kalthoff Buck. Virginia lived in the Concordia area most of her life and was a 1953 graduate of Concordia High School. On Aug. 14, 1954, she married Lew Schnakenberg, who survives of the home. Virginia was always active in community and civic clubs, and served as the librarian of Concordia Public Library for 21 years. She was a member of St. Paulís Lutheran Church and its Altar Guild.
In addition to her husband, Lew, she is survived by one son, Tim Schnakenberg and wife Judy of Blue Springs; one daughter, Gail Nierman of Leeís Summit; four grandchildren, Jeffrey, Daniel, Bryan, and Sara; one great-granddaughter, Alivia; two brothers, James Buck of Rapid City, S.D., and Robert Buck of Kansas City; as well as nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Todd Schnakenberg.
