Althea Ann (Strader) Dieckhoff

Althea Ann (Strader) Dieckhoff, 81, of Alma, Missouri, passed away Sunday, Nov. 5, 2017 at Meyer Care Center in Higginsville.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Alma with Pastor Mike Gallagher officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Concordia. Althea was born Oct. 3, 1936 on a farm northeast of Alma, and was the daughter of the late John and Henrietta Cook Strader. She lived in the Alma area her entire life and was a 1954 graduate of Alma High School. Following high school, she attended Deaconess School of Nursing in St. Louis and graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1957. Althea worked as a nurse for over 30 years at Kelling Hospital in Waverly, and was loved by her patients and co-workers.

On October 5, 1957, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Alma, she was united in marriage to Howard Dieckhoff, who survives of the home, and they just recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Althea had a spirit of caring and compassion that was felt by her family, friends, and everyone she knew. She was a woman of faith that lived her life caring for others. We will always carry her memory in our hearts.

In addition to her husband, Howard, she is survived by three daughters, Teresa Haffner and husband Mike of Pleasant Hill, Sheri Tieman and husband Lance of Higginsville, and Kim Moore and husband Randy of Odessa; 11 grandchildren, Brooks (Erin) Tieman, Matt (Kristin) Haffner, Jamie Haffner, Brady (Jen) Tieman, Conner (Emily) Moore, Robbie (Anna) Haffner, Kendall (Blake) Hooper, Shelby (Brett) Varner, Samantha Wilson, Katie LeBlanc, and Hayden Moore; two great-grandchildren, Hamilton Hooper and Silas Haffner; one brother, Gary (Darlene) Strader of Odessa; as well as nieces and nephews.

Althea was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Carol Sue Eager.
